Unable to open up downloaded file in a trusted intranet site RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am getting a "Your current security settings do not allow this file to be download" error when I click on a intranet link that is supposed to open up a PDF file from an IE web site.

So the link's detail is like this: http://192.168.x.x/pdf/i23424.pdf.

I have add the link http://192.168.x.x/* value = 3 to the Site to Zone Assignment List in my GPO but it still does not work.

My GPO also allows File Download to happen for the trusted sites.
File download is disable in internet site's custom level.
Someone knows how to fix this please advise.

  • use the wildcard notation for your uri or the https protocol. eg. https://192.... or *://192....

also Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab, uncheck "Do not save encrypted files to disk".

Use the File>Properties menu in IE to confirm that the host maps to the IE security zone you expect.

To debug security or blocked content issues in IE first go

Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab, check "Always record developer console messages". Save changes.

Load your intranet site in IE, press f12 to display the dev tool and select the Console tab first to view any recorded security/blocked content messages.

Then select the Networking tab, and click the Start button to record the network traffic.

!important - without closing the dev tool (pin it to the browser tab). return to the web page and click the download link..... return to the network tab and/or Console tab and examine any output.
