Install Agent on Hyper-V 2008R2 Host - Reboot required RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

we are running DPM 2010 on Win2K8R2 and we would like to add an hyper-V Host as a PS - Windows Server 2008R2.

After installing the DPM Agent do we have to reboot the Hyper-V host to be able to to VM child backups?

    Thanks

    /bkpfast

  • This depends, is it prompting you to reboot?

I've installed agents on 13 hosts we have in 3 separate clusters. Only 4 required a reboot when installing the agent.

If this is the case, if your clustered environment you want to preform a live move to the other hosts and move the storage off that host. Then reboot, then relocate the VM's and storage back to that host.

Unfortunately  there is no yes or no, if you will HAVE to reboot.

But installing the agent wont force a reboot, you have the option to reboot later.
