  • Question

  • I copy client component msi and try to install to client,

On Win 7 X64: installer shows 2738 error.

On XP SP3: installer run but not finish and never install.

  • Hi George,

    What is the UAG version?

You may be hitting an issue that was fixed by Rollup 1 for UAG SP1 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2475733), when installing the UAG client components on client machines where the OS uses an East Asian language.

    Hi, Ran,

Thanks for the info. My UAG is SP1 and after install Rollup1 of SP1,

XP SP3 TChinese X32 can install msi.

But my Win7 TChinese X64 still get the same 2738 error...:<

  • Hi George

    I have not encountered this.

But here's a thought: MSI error 2738 is: "Could not access VBScript run time for custom action". So maybe you should take a look at this blog: Windows Installer Errors 2738 and 2739 with Script Custom Actions . Also note that, since you get this error on a x64 machine, you may need to ensure that the SysWOW version of the VBScript.dll is registered.

...or I may be totally wrong, and this is not related...

  • Hi, Ran,

I don't find these 2 registry in HKCU.

But I do find them in HKLM and HKLM\Wow6432node.

This should means Jscript and VBScript engine are register well.

So it seems not this problem.

    Any other idea.

  • Hi George,

No, sorry, no other ideas from me. Maybe you should consider opening a case with MS Customer Support Services (http://support.microsoft.com/).
