Child Partition Replica creation causing Host to become unresponsive RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello All,

I have started having an issue with DPM 2012 SP1.  I am trying to backup hyper-v machines on a local server.  The VHD's are on the local drives.  When I try and create the replica it looks like it is creating the snapshot, but then does not transfer it to DPM.  Rather it causes the Host to become unaccessable.  The VM is still running fine, but to gain access to the host it requires it to be rebooted.  When trying to access the host all it comes up with is a black screen in the RDP window.

I have made sure that the Integrated Services are on the same level.  I have done this on many other Hosts but these ones are causing the no end of issues.

Hope someone can suggest a fix for this.

    Kind Regards

    Sean.

  • Just a quick update, just before the Host becomes unresponsive I have noticed that there are multiple copies of drvinst.exe running.  Dont know if this is of any help.

    Kind Regards,

    Sean

  • Sean,

Based on this, looks like the storage environment is not responding.  Can you detail out the list of storage boxes that you have on the Hyper-V server?
