Have to set up Power BI in AWS environment and define security RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a data warehouse solution set up in AWS environment. The input files coming into S3 buckets are processed by AWS Glue jobs and the data is loaded into AWS RedShift data warehouse.

The plan is to setup (install & configure) Power BI on a EC2 server (AWS) and users will be using Power BI desktop on their AWS workspaces to connect to data warehouse and run reports.

What Power BI product has to be installed on EC2 to achieve this? (Power BI Pro/Premium/Report server?)

The underlying database tables have some columns that contain PII (personally identifiable information) data. These columns shouldn't be visible to the users belonging to non-PII groups. Can this be achieved? I mean using Power BI can we apply security at column level or data item level? I know this can be achieved using Microstrategy BI solution.

Thanks in advance. Any help is highly appreciated.
