Sequencing Visio 2010 on App-V 5.0 SP1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am following the recently released recipe guide for sequencing Office 2010 products with App-V 5.0.  However, the instructions do not work correctly or a step needs clarification.  We are trying to sequence Visio 2010 Professional with a MAK key for the Integration scenario.

After sequencing, importing into App-V server, and deploying to a user, the problem is that the application attempts to register as a Premium install and then fails.  However, if App-V Office 2010 Kit (OffVirt.msi) is installed, then a user is allowed to activate Visio as Professional.

We are trying to avoid installing OffVirt on any systems.  Anyone know which step in the recipe I may have followed incorrectly which would cause this problem?

  • Hello,

You can not avoid installing it. You must install it

  • OK thanks.  As a point of clarification, the guide (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2830069) states that it is not needed if integration was completed.  So just to confirm, the guide is incorrect?  Or at least it is incorrect for Visio as I've not had the problem with Project.

Section "Deploying the Office 2010 package on App-V 5.0"

"If you sequenced with integration, you do not need to install the Office Deployment kit on the App-V clients as the package publishing process will take care of that. Otherwise, install the Office Deployment kit on all App-V clients before you publish the package."

  • Did you answer this?  I have the same issue with Visio and Project.

  • I have not received answers to the follow-up question.  At this time, OffVirt is necessary for at least Visio.

  • The article lists the following:

    Sequencing with Integration
The OSPP service would automatically be installed on any App-V 5.0 client computers to which you want to stream Office 2010 when you publish the Office 2010 App-V package to those machines.

    Sequencing without Integration
You would have to manually install the Office 2010 Deployment Kit for App-V on every App-V 5.0 client machine.

There are actually two components required for sequencing Office 2010 applications with App-V 5:

    • Office 2010 Deployment Kit for App-V (OffVirt.msi, originally released for App-V 4.6)
    • Microsoft Office 2010 Sequencing Kit for Microsoft Application Virtualization 5.0

OffVirt.msi is required for the licensing components.
