Windows vista sounds not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am running Vista x64 and the sound card (integrated) works fine on winamp, media player, etc but I cannot set up any sound clip in vista (control Panel/Sound). No sound at start up or shut down. When I go in the control panel and test the sounds, nothing plays... Any idea?

  • Windows Vista will detect most sound cards and install a generic driver. Try downloading your manfuacturers drivers.

  • Thanks for the reply. Sounds in general applications worked ok. The only sounds that I could not get where the ones linked to Vista OS. i.e. opening Vista, shutting down, critical error, etc...
Music and video sounds were ok.

I fixed this by reinstalling Vista.
