win 10 screensaver issue RRS feed

  • I set screen saver setting to get triggered after 10 min and it works for the current user, but it is not working for another user in windows 10.

    any idea?

  • I found out the screensaver setting that I set for admin user was not applied to the other account. it looks like the setting is user based but I did not expect that.

  • Make sure your system is updated.Reset the Power train to default:

    Steps to Reset and restore the power plans to default:

    Right-click on Start button and click on Command Prompt (Admin).
    In the command prompt, type powercfg –restoredefaultschemes and hit Enter.
    Exit command prompt.

    1 logon the problematical user on win10 and check if below method can solve your issue ?

    2 can you enter winver in command prompt on problematical win10 computer and look the os version and os version number ?[for example windows 10  enterprise 1809 (os build 17763.316)]

    do your issue condition like below ?
    pc1 : win10
    user account :testa
    user account :testb
    testa and testb need to logon the same pc1.you set screen saver setting for testa and it work for testa but it is not working for testb .

    4 did your problematical computer in AD domain or in workgroup ? Are your 2 user accounts all local account or domain account ?


    5 did your 2 account(like testa and testb) in the same OU ? did you set domain user policy about screen saver then deploy it to win10?
    User Configuration >polices> Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization


    6 did you set "Prevent Users from changing the Screensaver" policy or registry for problematical user ?
    User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization

    7 after you logon the problematical user account , enter gpresult /h c:\screensaver.html in command prompt and look if there is user policy cause the problematical user can not do screen saver setting.
