Calculated field problem based on another field (Syntax Error) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Friends,

I am trying to enter a calculated field that updates with today's date when another field is updated.  So in the field "Sign off date" I want it to populate today's date when a person enter's their name in the text field.  Below is the code I was trying but I am getting a syntax error.  Any assistance would be appreciated.

=IF(ISBLANK([ER Decision Support Sign Off by],"",Today))

  • I don't think that is going to work.  In general, I don't think you can use the [Today] function in calculated columns.

Instead, I would recommend creating a workflow in SharePoint Designer that will set the "Sign Off Date" field to the date when the "ER Decision Support Sign Off By" field is not blank.

    I hope this helps.
