SCCM 2012 no Distribution Point option. RRS feed

  • Question

  • So I installed a new SCCM 2012 setup on Windows 2012 in the lab.  There's no option for adding Distribution Points.

    What gives?  No clue why.

Only thing so far is there is two choices during initial install.  Site only server or management server.  I picked Management since I figured it added the other stuff.

  • I guess you installed a Central Administration Site (CAS). It's only needed of you want to manage more than 100.000 clients. Just use a standalone primary site instead (and uninstall the CAS).

  • SQL does not need to be installed on a DP, nor does it get installed.

  • Kind of what I thought.  I guess the instructions are confusing a little.

    Further not.

So I'm going from 2007 to 2012.  I use one primary and all other servers are just DP's.  My DP's are Windows 2003 and we can't upgrade.

If it's just a DP does SQL get installed?
