Macro/Shortcut/Bat/Software to switch primary monitor? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey,

I currently have 2 monitors and one TV connected to my PC. Especially when gaming I often have to set my TV as the primary monitor if you want to play from the couch so that my picture is displayed on the TV. I know that I can go through the whole "rightclick, monitor ..." thing to switch it but is there any way to macro/shortcut this so that I can switch on the fly with just one click?

A programm called Ultramon used to be able to do this (+also change audio sources from my PC speakers to my 5.1 system) but it currently doesn't work correctly on W10, hence why I am asking.

Hope you can help me, thanks!

  • Hi,

You can press “Windows key” + “Shift” + “Right Arrow/Left Arrow” to switch the screen which you want to another monitor. Refer the link below for more information.

The program called Ultramon is a 3rd party software, so we are not certain whether the software is compatible with Windows 10. However, you can follow the steps below to solve if it is compatible with Windows 10.

    1. Start the Windows in clean boot mode to check whether it exists software conflicting. Refer the link below to know how to perform.

    1. Right click the program > “Properties” > “Compatibility”, now you can use “Run compatibility troubleshooter” or choose the “Compatibility mode” to run this program. Also, you can also change the “Settings” in “Compatibility” to make it compatibility.

    Best Regards
