Azure Information Protection Client install means office cant start RRS feed

  • I have just installed the AIP client (1.41.51.0) on my laptop running Win10 1809 Enterprise (17763.194) and Office 365 Pro Plus 1811 (11029.20108) and rebooted. Initially I was not seeing the toolbar so I have force enabled the plugin with a GPO.

    Now I am finding that I can open Outlook and get the toolbar in the new email view as well as . However I can't open Word or Excel. I get the splash screen for them, and can see the add-ins loading but then the splash screen disappears and the app never loads.

    In both cases I have found that an event is generated in the application log stating ".NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.9035 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (00007FFDC10A6AA6) (80131506)"

    Given the .net error I've checked that the .net 3.5 optional feature is installed (it is) and even re-enabled powershell 2.0 to see if it's related to that being disabled.

    I've also tried resetting the AIP settings (from the toolbar in Powerpoint) and then opening Word. Which launched until it performed an SSO to O365 (I'm guessing to pull the policies) and then crashed out with the same .net error that is above.

  • I am also getting this error. Work and Excel do not open. Outlook does. Where you able to find an answer?

  • I weirdly managed to resolve my issue by reverting my office 365 install from x64 to x86. It's been pretty stable since, although I've not had time to go back an look at what the root cause was

  • ok, That's interesting. Most of my install base is 32bit. with only some 64bit. I installed the preview build of AIP this morning 1.48.1.0 and so far i have not had issues.
