Allow Top-Level Time Reporting in PS 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Project Server 2010 has an option to "Allow Top-Level Time Reporting". On most of my projects in PS 2010 I would want TimeSheet users to report their hours at the "Detail-level", where the assignment was made. However, on certain projects I *only* want them to report at the Project-Level and nothing else. If I check this "Allow" box, is there a way to specify whether a given project "requires" detail-task level timesheet reporting and whether another project "requires" Project-Level reporting only? What about mid-level (summary task level) reporting? I *never* want resources to report time at mid-level -- only at the detail level where specified or at the Project Level where specified. Can I control that? Thanks for your help. Jim Mac.

  • Hello Jim,

If you apply settings "Allow Top-Level Time Reporting" , It will be globally applied. so you cannot control this on the basis of project.
You may need to do a customization to cancel the timesheet submit by resource using by Event handlers.

On a other note, as an alternate, You can have a task level custom field lets say "Time Reported required with values Yes or No with default Yes" which can be rolled down to assignment level. PM can set the value where ever the time reporting is NOT required.

    Please see Christophe's article:

    Hope that helps.
