OWA - downloading attachments over 10mb RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We have an issue with our OWA published through the UAG server, in that we cannot download and open attachments over 10mb. It returns a "HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error'. As a test, when accessing the OWA server within the network and not through Forefront, the attachments will download without any problems.

  • Do you do any Malware Inspection and detection?

  • Hi, We don't have any third party malware tools installed, only the Forefront TMG which comes with UAG and have not amended any rules it has created.

  • Have you looked at this one?

  • Hi, I've noticed our subscription to Malware has expired within TMG and it has been disabled, so that rules that out I guess.

  • Wouldn't those setting still be applied? do you want to check if you have download setting configured?

  • Hi,

I used the information here: https://www.fastvue.co/tmgreporter/blog/how-to-extend-forefront-tmgs-web-protection-services-wps-after-january-2012 to set the license for TMG to be active. But I am still having the issue now with Malware active. I have set the download policy for OWA to 'Always'.

  • Hi,

I managed to get it working by adding the following registry key and upping from the default 10mb:

    DWORD VALUE (Bytes)

This key defines the number of bytes the URL filter can accumulate for responses. The default value is 10 Mb (1024*1000*10). All responses that needed to be accumulated and parsed and are greater than 10 Mb will be rejected, if the registry key does not define a larger size.

As found on the TechNet article here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee809087.aspx
