This Project Server 2010 feature requires at least Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have encounter to following error when I try to access "Manage TimeSheet" and "Project Center" page in my pwa site:
    "Error
This Project Server 2010 feature requires at least Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0.
Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation.
    Correlation ID: 8f9f635b-c95b-4e2d-bd0a-e662c5d7b4ed"

I use Windows 8 (IE 10) and I have enable Compatibility mode.

This problem was first occurred when I installed and then uninstalled "Avant Browser" in my system.

I have read some texts that explain how this problem occurs and how to solve it.

Some of suggested solutions I have found are:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2394699?wa=wsignin1.0

    http://epmsource.com/2012/06/05/windows-8-release-preview-and-project-server-2010/

But unfortunately none of them solved my problem.

How can I fix this problem?

    Thanks for advance

    I solved this problem.

The problem was occurred because after uninstalling "Avant browser" there is still one key in registery remained that changed the "User Agent"

and because some pages in PWA are sensitive to changes in "User Agent" then they fail to load.

I read this note: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2394699?wa=wsignin1.0 and then I checked the javascript command navigator.userAgent() and found that my user agent is: "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; Trident/6.0; .NET4.0E; .NET4.0C; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; InfoPath.3 Avant Browser)"

    Although I had unistalled "Avant Browser" it was still exist in "user agent" string;

So I removed the key containing "Avant Browser" from registry in this path:

    "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Post Platform"

and again checked the navigator.userAgent() command. Now the user agent string is modified to: "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; Trident/6.0; .NET4.0E; .NET4.0C; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; InfoPath.3)" and my problem solved completely.

  • Are you sure all of the Avant Browser components are uninstalled? I understand it modifies the headers of the web request. You could check what is being sent via Fiddler or a similar tool to verify.

  • How do I figure what exactly I needs to fix when I check the user agent. I just tried to visit javascript:alert(navigator.userAgent) in my web-browser and I got a pop-up. Now the if I read the pop-up I cannot make out if or not my user is agent setting are right or wrong. In your example it was happening because of Avant. What was the message when you had these issues and what if this issue is being caused by any other browser. What would the message be in such a case?

  • Good Day Everyone,

I guess currently Project Server PWA 2010 does not have support for higher-than-seven.zero version. Try using compatibility view settings, (Tools->Compatibility View Settings-> A dialog box opens where you can add the url of your pwa site)

  • Hi,
Same problem for me (in IE 11).

Displaying the site in compatibility view were my solution.
