  • Question

  • Quick Query: We have a Windows Server 2012 installation with SQL 2012 Installation which we would like to use for SharePoint 2010 backend. The front end of Sharepoint 2010 will sit on a Windows 2008 r2 server will this work?

I have read the KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2724471 Which suggests that SharePoint 2010 and Server 2012 are not currently supported - however I read this to be for Front end not the backend is this correct?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

However I read this to be for Front end not the backend is this correct?

Answer:  I am using Sharepoint 2010 residing on Windows 20008 R2 with back end SQL 2012 SP1 installation residing on Server 2012 with latest patch and updates. What  KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2724471 refers to is installing WFE of Sharepoint 2010 on SQL Server 2012.

  • Yep, installing SQL on Server 2012 is perfectly fine, as long as SharePoint is installed on Server 2008/2008 R2.

  • I have not tried it, but you will need to wait for SP2.

There is a few problems before from what i read, just to install not even connect.
