Virtual Machine, XP mode and AVG or AVast not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am unable to use XP Mode with either AVG or Avast installed.

It was working fine for years with AVG installed, then all of a sudden whenever XP Mode was used, I'd get a blue screen and the machine would reboot. I uninstalled AVG, XP Mode and Virtual Machine. Reinstalled XP Mode and Virtual Machine and it works fine. As soon as I reinstalled AVG it did it again.

I've tried the same with Avast and the same thing happens.

    Has anyone seen this before?

  • I've seen this problem if the .vhd files are locked/scanned by the AV apps.
It's best to exclude all the XP mode files in your AV app.  I had this
    exact problem with AVG myself.

Also, if you have the web component of AVG active, and you're using NAT in
the networking for XP Mode, you will see some significantly slower network
    speed in the VM.
