Standalone CA for non domain joined machiens RRS feed

    Forum,

    We run OpsMgr 2007R2 and monitor many domain joined servers. Our problem is with monitoring non domain joined servers.

    I know that we need a certificate server but I don't know if it's safe to install a standalone CA on a new management server joined to the domain. I don't want to affect the thousands of workstations and servers in theatre.

    Some confusion is whether or not I can install the standalone CA on a domain server without affecting anything or if I install the CA on an existing management server, will it affect the agents currently connected to that management server in the event that I decide to install the CA on a non domain joined member and install the certs on an existing management server.

    I don't want to cause an outage througout theatre.
