Lync 2010 shows "Out of office" instead of "Offline" after closed RRS feed

  • Question

  • At the back end we use SfB 2015 on-premise.  some are using SfB 2016 client and some are using Lync 2010 (pending to upgrade).  For one user once she logged in Lync 2010 others can view her status correctly.  The only problem is that once she logged off her computer or exit/logoff Lync her status changed to "Out of office".  It really should be "Offline"  because she has no Outlook OOO auto reply set and Outlook calendar isn't set as Out of office neither.  Does anyone know how to fix it?

    Thanks,

  • Hi ChrisD0919,

What does the user do before this issue appearing?

Does anyone else have this problem?

Do you try this account in other clients?

You could clear client cache and have a try.

Moreover, please check if your client is not the latest version.

  • Hi,

The user has no recall the problem happened after she did anything.  She is the only one reported the issue and I haven't let her try to logon a different machine.  Will try if possible.  The client isn't the latest version.  How to clear Lync client cache?

    Thanks,

  • Hi ChrisD0919,

You can clear the client cache as the following steps:

    1. Right click the Windows icon and open the Run bar

    2. Type in: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Office\1x.0\Lync\ folder

    3. Delete the sip profile folder.

    4. Go into the Tracing folder, delete all files.

Besides, I suggest the user update her client to the latest version.

  • Here I will provide a brief summary of this post. This will make answer searching in the forum easier.

    <Issue Symptom>:

User environment: Skype for Business 2015 on-premises. Lync client.

When user logged off her computer or exited Lync, her status changed to "Out of office".  It really should be "Offline" because she has no Outlook OOO auto reply set and Outlook calendar isn't set as Out of office neither.

    <Cause>:

It is seems related to the version.

    <Solution>:

Upgrading user's desktop to Windows 10 and Office 2016..
