    Hi,

    Looking for information regards to Persistent Chat Server.

    Current Envrironment :

    2 Lync Sites
    1 Enterprise Front End Pool with 3 servers under each Site
    1 Edge Pool with 2 servers(streched across sites)
    Clustered BackEnd Server
    Pool paired configured
    User Count :10K


    Requirement:

    Introduce Persistent chat servers with High availability and DR

    Planning to have 2 Persistent Front Server, 1 in Each Lync Site and both will be active



    Query:

    1) How should we determine storage requirement of Peristent BackEnd Server ?

    2) Can we use Clustered BackEnd Server as Persistenet Chat Back End Database Server or only Mirroring works ?

    3) Do we need a separate File Share for persistent Chat servers and where it should reside to full fill the DR requirement ?

    4) By default, How long Persisten data gets saved in the database ?

    I have gone through with below Article to get answers of my Query but no luck, Kinldy help me with your suggestions.

    Hi JinDeep,

    here some awnsers

    1) difficult to answer, depend on the use. SQL DB is mostly used. The server themselves default FE server requirements

    2) SQL cluster is supported, same as a FE

    3) the default file share of the FE pool will be used

    Hi Jin Deep,

    1. Theres an old Group Chat sizing tool that may be close as Persistent Chat was Group Chat in Lync. Please note the tool is from OCS but it may give some guidance.

    2. For database HA please note Using SQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups is not supported with Persistent Chat Server databases. Information on HA and DR for P chat https://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/dn951400.aspx

    3, can use the same file share, it need to be HA capable.

    4. P chat data is storage is dependent on room sizes and content added to rooms, you can also deploy the p chat compliance role and it keep all content indefinitely.
