Upgraded to SP1 CU4 yet? OK so far? RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello. We are still on SP1 (without any CU). I see CU4 came out last week. I was wondering how it's doing in the real world. I'd like to know if others were successful (or are having problems) after installing it.

The upgrade is cumulative, so I should be able to go right to CU4 (without having to do CU1, then CU2...), correct?

    Thanks.

  • Correct, you can go directly to CU4. Also, a semantic note, CU4 is an "update", not an upgrade.

Is there a reason you are aren't upgrading to R2?

  • We will upgrade to R2 soon. Any tips? (No, I haven't Bing'd for them yet, but I will.)

  • R2 upgrade is like SP1 upgrade or almost. Need to install ADK 8.1, disable some maintenance tasks, verify everything on the server (components, status...), testdbupgrade and then migrate.

Do not forget to migrate MDT as well if you are using it

So I can download the Windows Assessment Deployment Kit 8.1 here, and I guess I'm supposed to uninstall ADK 8.0 first (according to the guide here). And thank you for the mention of migrating Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (found here http://bit.ly/1kcVDgA). I appreciate your help.

Which maintenance tasks should be disabled?

  • Take a look at this :

Disable the site maintenance tasks “Backup Site Server”, “Delete Aged Client Operations” and “Delete Aged Discovery Data” on SCCM ConfigMgr sites. - See more at: http://anoopcnair.com/2013/10/18/configmgr-sccm-2012-sp1-r2-upgrade-checklist/#sthash.mQkOY04g.dpuf
