email notifications(task list) does not work after moving site RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

On my MOSS 2007 SP2 Ent

I have a problem witha  custom list and the assignTo field for email notifications, I exported a site and I imported  into a new site collection.

Everything works fine, but the email notifications on the assignTO field does not work on the moved sites, when I create a new task list it works.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Mike2670,

This is maybe the problem transpired from a original of the content database from a different server which somewhere along the line maintained some references to the original server. A clear out of the relevant databases and re-registering the alert templates seemed to solve the problem.

You can use STSADM command like the following.

    1. click start->run, input cmd.
    2. Input  cd  C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN
    3. Input   stsadm -o updatealerttemplates -url http://testserver -f "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\XML\alerttemplates.xml" -LCID 2057

In the step3, please change the URL with yourself site.

    Thanks,

    Jack

  • Hi Mike

    Please try the below:

    • Confirm that the webapplication of the site collection to which you have imported the site has the correct Outgoing Email Configuration.
    • Run Stsadm.exe-o getproperty -url http://problemsite  -pn alerts-enabled
      The expected output is <Property Exist="Yes" Value="yes"/>.
    • If its not Yes then need to enable it with below command:
      stsadm.exe -o setproperty -pn alerts-enabled -pv "true" -url http://problemsite
    • If everything is there as expected but still emails not working then as Jack mentioned run
      stsadm -o updatealerttemplates -url http://problemsite -f C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\12\TEMPLATE\XML\Alerttemplates.xml –lcid 1033
