No Internet upon boot but actual Local Area Connection is connected - Windows XP pro RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ever since we re-installed XP pro after a crash we've had problems.  One was no remote connection option, I fixed that by following the following advice from ehow

Click "Start" and choose "Run." Type "regedit" and click "OK."

    •   2

    Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan."

    3

Click "File" and choose "Export." Type "exported rasman key" in the "File Name" box and click "Save."

    4

Find and click the "ObjectName" string entry in the "RasMan" sub key. Select "Edit," then click "Modify."

    5

Type "LocalSystem" in the "Value data" box, then click "OK."

Delete 25 and 26 Sub Keys

    6

    Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\PPP\EAP\25."

    7

Select "Edit," then click "Delete." Select "Yes."

    8

    Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\PPP\EAP\26."

    9

Select "Edit" and click "Delete." Click "Yes."

    10

Close the Registry Editor and reboot the computer

After following these steps we cannot open any internet browsers upon startup.  We have disable and then renable the internet connection 1-3 times and/or restart the modem.  This is getting to be tedius, any ideas on how to fix it.
