  • Question

  • Hi

IE is not my default browser

I'm trying to open a .url file using IE but I need to open it in a tab of my current IE windows

I create a .url file using:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" https://www.homepage.com

but I dunno how to open it as a new tab not a new window

    Thanks

That's the syntax for a .lnk file, not a .url.   You can drag URL from the Address bar or use the Add to Favorites bar button or just press Ctrl-d to create a .url file.  BTW those are just the main old UI methods of creating one.  There are also ways to create one on the Desktop or Start Screen.  None of them require you to do any coding.  Then it will depend on how you use it and perhaps your Tab Options whether it opens in the same tab, a new tab or a new window.

    FYI
