Unexpected Global.mpt message received RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are on Server 2010 SP1 and Project Professional 2010 SP1. No macros or stuff like that at all.

The application successfully loads, however once you launch the app a second time and then close it you receive the error "Project is attempting to save C:\...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MS Project\14\1033\Global.MPT.  A file with this name already exists and is probably disabled. You should let Project replace the existing file."

Fixed by deleting files from cache folder for the first time, but message reproduced in a couple of hours.

Any suggestions or exact sequencing would be highly appreciated.

  • Hi,

1] Check if the user has write access on the folder

    C:\...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\MS Project\14\1033\Global.MPT

    2] Close the project Professional.

    3] Rename the Global.MPT file.

4] Open the Project Professional again. A new Global.MPT file will be created.
