VPN Accounting (radius) to ATA RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I want to correlate the radius accounting with the ATA analysis, but I don't get it why I should send the accounting data from my VPN to "one of the closest ATA gateways.

Why not just send it to the ATA Center?
(or am I misunderstanding the documentation?)

I run the Lightweight gateway on my DC's and I don't want to add extra load to any of them.

Saw an earlier thread about someone thinking of installing a full ATA gateway to just receive the accounting info, but didn't see if they got it working.
Have anybody else gone this way as a solution?

  • The Center was not designed for raw data collections. the Gateway is.

That is why you select one of the Gateways as data collector.

and Yes, in theory you can set a standalone Gateway to handle this data, but if it sees no mirrored traffic, then you will get health alerts about it.

How much traffic is expected to get forwarded by this VPN? it's usually not that much that will add a significant load on the machine...
