IE 11 keeps crashing RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have noticed that websites (and it appears to be pages with Java and/or with Flash) that Internet Explorer crashes. It is horrible that when I visit normal sites such as Yahoo.com, MSN.com, etc. the browser just crashes. I have done the Reset under Internet Options --> Advanced tab and that did not fix it. I did the GPU option under the Advanced tab. Again, didn't fix it. I uninstalled Flash Player and Java and then reinstalled them both. It still didn't fix the problem. I'd hate to have no plugins or anything just to use IE and when I visit sites I cannot use them because I have no plugins. I thinkI have it narrowed down to Java is running on the page.

I have Windows 7 - 64bit with latest updates and SP and IE 11.

  • Hi,

Based on your description, I would like to suggest you try the following to fix the issue about IE crash:

    1. Run Internet Explorer Performance Troubleshooter.

The Internet Explorer Performance Troubleshooter is an automated tool which will check for any performance issues which are common with the Internet Explorer on the computer and
provides the details on how to fix them. Follow these steps and run the troubleshooter.

    a. Press “Windows Logo” + “W” keys from the keyboard.
    b. Type “Troubleshooting” in the search bar and press “Enter”.
    c. In the “Troubleshooting” window, click on “View All” on the left pane.
    d. Click on “Internet Explorer Performance”.
    e. Click on “Advanced” and then click on “Run as Administrator”.
    f. Click “Next” and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

    2. Make sure you have the latest version of Internet Explorer for your operating system.

    3. Select Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering, and then restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.

If the issue still occurs, you may check the Event Viewer to find the IE error details( Start>Event Viewer>Windows Logs>Application sort by Source... the Application Hang entries will have your IE error details)

    Hope it helps.

  • I have had the same problems for about a year. It's insane. None of Microsoft instructions have helped. Wasted countless hours trying to fix problem. In my business, there are a number of websites I use that require IE. I've reported these issues to MS to no avail. I'm running Windows 7, SP1, IE 11 64bit all updates.

  • Same here with constant crashing with IE11. None of these fixes help. It's has to be an inherent IE11 program error. Never had this problem with IE10 or when I use Firefox. IE11 has never worked as well as IE10.
