Failed to connect to the RPC server on computer "Exch1.domain.com" RRS feed

  • I am running Exchange 2010.

    We use some scripts occasionally to query information from our Exchange servers (message tracking logs etc). However, there are two servers for when I run this scripts remotely, they return this error:

    Failed to connect to the RPC server on computer "Exch1.domain.com". Verify that a valid computer name was used

    I went onto the server and checked that the RPC service was running.

    So I'm a bit lost, any ideas?

  • Check if windows firewall is properly configured to allow "Remote Administration” on these servers.

  • Running the script locally on the server works? If yes that I'd look into to see if something is blocking this as suggested a firewall.

    Any updates?

    Please also run the cmdlet Get-MessageTrackinglog -Server Exch1.domain.com on the remote computer to test.

    Please ping the Exch1.domain.com as well.
