Share access RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a 3 computer p2p network.

    1- win7 pro

    2- win10 home

    3- win10 ent

all belong to the same workgroup.

    I don't use homegroups.

A- can access shares on the win10 ent from the win7 pc.

B- can access shares on the win10 ent from the win10 home only through the command prompt by mapping a drive.

C- can access shares on win7 and win10 home from win10 ent.

    the problem is with B-

after entering network credentials of the user for that pc - error user name or pswd is incorrect.

I've disabled file sharing pswd - no change

I've enabled the administrator account - same error as above

I'm able to map to the shares through a command prompt

    enabled netBios over tcp

There you have it my fellow sleuths, in a nutshell. Thank You

  • You need to set two services to automatic (delayed start):

    Function Discovery Provider Host
    Function Discovery Resource Publication

Right click Start, click on Run towards the bottom. type services.msc in the Run box and press enter to open the Services List. Scroll down until you find those two. Set them to automatic (delayed start). Then right click and start them both.
