Google Chrome policies not working

    Question

  • Hi Everyone,

I have deployed Google Chrome Version 56.0.2924.87 from the enterprise msi installer.  I've also downloaded the latest adml and admx templates and copied them into the policies folder in sysvol.

There is a new gpo for chrome applied to all computers and all users.  I've set the homepage everywhere I can (computer policy, user policy) under Google Chrome and Google Chrome default.  I've entered the homepage in the policy for urls to startup.

gpresult shows the policy is applied, but the homepage isn't be set at all.

    any ideas?

    Thanks.

Can you take a look on this site and check if you did the same?

  • Have you set Comp Config\ Admin Templates\ Google\ Google Chrome...\Home page and Start up page settings? Under Start up pages I think we had to set 'Action on Startup' to open a list of URLs then set the URL(s) to Open

also, is there a way to stop the "getting started" page appearing everytime to launch chrome?

  • I'm going to look now, but what's the point of this then?

  • ok so it seems to have started working.  I manually added the adm file again and waited a little while longer for sysvol replication.  The homepage and startups seems to work ok now.

Just need to figure a way of stopping the "getting started" screen.

  • Cracked it

Created a file called First Run here

    C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data
