Internet explorer 11 won't start this morning (Windows 8.1) RRS feed

  • Question

  •  Windows 8.1 Enterprise, IE11.

    McAfee 8.8, EMET 4.1

    This morning IE kept restarting.

I disabled everything, rebooted a few times, tried a clean boot, still no joy.

Now it has decided to not even try to start

    unhappy IE11

Answers

  • Yes I agree with this, the problem machine also had a Citrix plugin and McAfee site advisor (not very exotic)

  • This is correct but between the Citrix plug in and McAfee Site Advisor it is not fully compatible.

I am sending the crashdump files to the EMET team.

  • It was EMET 4.1. I needed to disable SEHOP to allow IE 11 to run.

Can the EMET team please communicate with the IE 11 team?

  • Hi,

EMET 4.1 is supported in Windows 8.1. Based on my test, it works well with Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8.1 lab machine.

Please check and install all available Windows Updates, then install it for test.

  • Hi,

1)In run type inetcpl.cpl > go to advance tab > click on reset > select all box and click reset. then try opening your IE

    If it does not work

2)Run a full scan with windows defender.
