sftmime add without manfifest xml file RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I saw several places from the web where to download sequenced packages of certain applications e.g. firefox etc. Many of these packages does not have the manfest file (xml) included. I wonder how to add these application via sftmime add command, or is there another way on how to do this?
    thanks,
    Achim

  • Hello,

Those are probably sequenced with and old sequencer, and therefore do not have this file.

Recreate or resave them according to best practice would be the way to generate this file.

They can not be imported without it.

  • Use the following command

    SFTMIME ADD APP:application /OSD osd-pathname [/ICON icon-pathname]
                    [/LOG log-pathname | /CONSOLE | /GUI]

  • The easiest way is to save them in the new sequencer. This would give you the requested manifest file.
You can even do this through commandline if you have many apps.

Alternatively you could add them to the local App-V client trought the sftmime ADD command like Johri mentioned.

This would however only add the application. It isn't loaded at this point. To make sure you can start the application do one of the following actions:
    - check the HREF path in the OSD and make sure the streaming server and application is available and enabled.
    - use the Application Source Root (ASR) registry key to overrule the HREF path in the OSD to an alternative streaming server and make sure the application is available there.
    - use the SFTMIME LOAD command to manually load the SFT file

    SFTMIME LOAD PACKAGE:package-name [/SFTPATH sft-pathname]
                    [/LOG log-pathname | /CONSOLE | /GUI]
