I doubt that boostbt can be sped up with small changes in the configuration. The number of boosts that you've indicated is very large - in general this may indicate that modifications to the ranking configuration could yield a more easily managed result.
An alternative to boostbt is to use the programmatic HWBOOST approach in which a pipeline stage in ESP is able to programmatically add a fixed number to the rank that's calculated as part of results processing. Note that this rank is applied across
all queries rather than for specific queries in boosts.
My use case: want to boost docs that have been recently viewed. I have 100K unique docs viewed per day (collection is > 300M docs total). Is it practical to use boostbt on 100K docs/day? Is there a better way to get the same effect for the user?
