I can not open Local disk C:\. No file association! RRS feed

  • Question

  • I can not get to program files or any files in local disk C:\. I can open only on the left side in the browse pane. When I try to open Local Disk C:\ from computer I get this error message.( C:\  This file does not have a program assotiated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the default control panel.) I get the same error message when I try to open any file within Local Disk C:\. Can anyone tell me what the default program and icon is? I thought it was Windows explorer or explorer exe. I do not Know what the icon is.     Thank You.

  • Hi,

    1) On any File Window go to Tools->Folder Options...

    2) Click on the View tab.

    3) Click on the Show all hidden and files and folder

    4) Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files"

    5) Type c: in the Address Bar

    6) Delete the autorun.inf file

    7) Restart your computer

You will have to do this for all your drives.
