What is the Microsoft Office 2013 Component? RRS feed

    We've upgraded from Office 2003 and XP to Office 2013 on Windows 7 but we're still on MOSS 2007. The Upload Multiple Documents option has disappeared but when we switch to Windows Explorer view we get the option to install the Microsoft Office 2013 Component. If we do, then the option to upload multiple documents appears again.

    That's fine but the IT guys aren't happy about us installing this without knowing whether it will make IE 11 unstable. I think that it was clearly written to work with IE 11 and SharePoint 2007, but does anyone have more information on just what this component is? I can't find it under Control Panel/Programs.

    It shouldnt make it unstable at all.

    But is there any information about what it does? Any MS info on this component would make them happier.
