Lookup table in MDT RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am new to MDT. I have a process that already works. (a manual process once the device is running) Basically the user enters in the site code (which I capture) and it does a look up to find location and then does some stuff with the location in another process.

I want to put this process in the deployment to capture this during the mdt deployment.

Currently, I have a hard coded location for my table (c:\sitecode.csv) I just need to know how to put it into MDT. Where would be the place to store my table and the code that uses it? is there a way to "search" for the table, then use it.

This is a usb deployment so I do not have a network share available.

note: the table gets updated often and there are currently over 600 entries in it. Do not what a 600 line case stmt.

    sample table (sitecode.csv)

    site code    location

    a123         north

    b234         south

    c456          east

    thanks in advance

  • USB limits you quite a bit, because this type of thing is perfect for the MDT DB.  However,  you can prompt for the input via a custom MDT wizard script and use a powershell script to query against the .CSV file during the Task Sequence.

Here is the tool to build the custom wizard prompt: http://mdtwizardstudio.codeplex.com/
