BSOD : 0x0000007e randomly while playing a game. RRS feed

  • Question

  • The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x0000007e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff80002fbddd3, 0xfffff880039d27e8, 0xfffff880039d2040). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 081911-41636-01.

    Here is The Dump file

    http://www.sendspace.com/file/bu31vj

Thanks if anyone can help. I'm not sure what's wrong, the BSOD didn't have anything like "Bad_pool_header" it was just blank at the top and in the middle was the 0x0000007E code.
I found the above in event viewer.

i should also note that this is a fresh install that has been updated.

Here's my quote from another forum, from the game that has crashed
    "It's REALLY ANNOYING. :(
It's happened twice in the last 36 hours to me, once while doing a Levequest (BZZT, FAILED, Now I have to wait/go all the way back to get it so I can do it again) And a second time just now while trying to do the Firefall Faire event >:(
My GPU Temps are only getting as high as 68c!

I don't seem to get crashes like this in other games, I ran the Lost Planet Colonies Benchmark for over 12 hours straight with no crashes after I just did a clean install of Windows 7 This past week.

Arg. I've also gotten a 0x0000007e BSOD while playing FFXIV last night too.
I only ever get crashes/issues with FFXIV or rather something GPU intensive.
Has my GPU just gone bad, or I dunno. Ever since I installed a 8800GTS640 as a physX card to do some benches and then made that the primary display device(it then started to crash a lot and the 8800 all of a sudden went bad, when you turn the PC on it has artifacting, which was extremely ODD because it hadn't been used since I pulled it out of this system in Janurary), i've been having nothing but problems with my 460.

I've also MEMTEST86+ tested my RAM for 15+ hours with not a single error.

I don't know how, but after a clean install of windows 7 and updating it the "Windows Time Service" has disappeared even though it was present after the install. Now when I go to synchronize the time to an internet server I get an "unable to continue, you do not have permission to perform this task" error. Even though I have ownership over every single file on my HDD's"

  • I updated to latest drivers and the program was still crashing, and then later I got ANOTHER BSOD, this time with an "IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" message
    And this in event viewer
"The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x0000000a (0x0000000100060089, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000001, 0xfffff80002e9ec11). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 082211-37502-01."

So, nothing seems to have worked.

I guess the card has gone bad , because I have a dual boot with XP/7

and in XP I also have issues with video driver crashing. :/

    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck.  Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem.  Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003.  This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG.  This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG.  This will let us see why this breakpoint is
    happening.

  • I posted a link to the Memory.dmp in the first post.
(that is 40+MB smaller with a .rar than a .zip)  http://www.sendspace.com/file/bu31vj
This is a CLEAN install of windows BTW.
I just installed it last week.
The only programs on here are the ones i've installed and I have already run virus scans and have found nothing. As well I just ran another scan with 0 results.
I have no Real-time protection programs enabled either.

Is it possible, that this Memory Access Violation could be from something like a RAM overclock?

My RAM is OC'd to 1594Mhz with 8-8-8-24-1N Speeds when stock is 1333Mhz @ 9-9-9-24

But, then why is only 1 program causing this BSOD and having issues. :/
    EDIT: 1:35 am Sunday 21st 2011.
I got another BSOD just watching a video on youtube.

It only seems to crash with GPU intensive programs. My card was running at stock speeds with no OC when it happened.
Perhaps my GPU is just going bad?

  • Hello,

I analyzed the MEMORY dump and I was not able to detect the exact cause of your problem.

Is it possible, that this Memory Access Violation could be from something like a RAM overclock?

    Contact your manufacturer for diagnosis.

The only programs on here are the ones i've installed and I have already run virus scans and have found nothing. As well I just ran another scan with 0 results.
I have no Real-time protection programs enabled either.

Please disable all security softwares that you have.

It only seems to crash with GPU intensive programs. My card was running at stock speeds with no OC when it happened.
Perhaps my GPU is just going bad?

Maybe. Your manufacturer Technical Support can check that.

I was given this The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck.  The bugcheck was: 0x0000003b (0x00000000c0000005, 0xfffff80002fcadd3, 0xfffff88006793b10, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 082111-30981-01.

Please upload the new dump file. Maybe it reveals something.

Please update your graphic card driver and check again.

  • Ok well I have no Security programs enabled. That's not an issue.

Here is the corresponding new MEMORY.DMP and the Minidump as well in a .rar

    http://www.sendspace.com/file/4v49v2

I also cannot upgrade my video driver as the newest driver above it causes Driver Crashes, BSOD's ETC because of a power usage bug in the drivers. It's a known issue right now, and I had those exact problems with those drivers as reported. 280.26 by Nvidia.
My current driver is the second newest WHQL approved driver 275.33

The BSOD was caused by nvlddmkm.sys driver. I see that it is the latest one. It is an NVIDIA driver.
Download and install that and then check if it solves your problem: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=35
If this does not help, uninstall your NVIDIA driver and install an old one. Once done, check again and report that to NVIDIA Technical Support.

  • alright. Thanks for your help.
    Monday, August 22, 2011 12:04 AM
