Unable to install the CCM client on two servers RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have two servers in the same site where I am unable to set up the ccm client. I have uninstalled the client and reinstalled multiple times. It just comes back to Site Mode Unknown under the General Tab and missing other options it should have. There are other servers w/o any issues that have the CCM client on them in the same site. I compared the network settings on a server that has CCM and the two that do not, unable to locate anything. Being that one of the servers has it installed not sure what to do from here.

  • You need to look at the client log files. check the clientidstartupmanager.log file and locationservices.log

  • The error in the clientidstatupmanager.log file is the one you should focus on. Check this thread for a similar problem and solution http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrgeneral/thread/e51a9b83-66ae-4463-ae91-128cf279e5a5/

  • I did look at the thread you sent. I uinstalled ccm and tried installing the ccm client via cmd line :

C:\Windows\ccmsetup>ccmsetup.exe /install   & also by the ccmsetup app file which we normally use.

Is there another way to try and install it?

  • You could check this blog also, that is describing the error and cause and resolution ,

  • I am confused because I checked every property tab in the SCCM Configuration Mgmt Console and compared the problem one to the other sites that work w/o any issues and they are all the same. Not sure where the change would have to take place on the client side being there is not much to change if anything there? I even checked in AD and the servers unable to obtain the CCM install look ok.

  • Maybe a silly question but what roles are running on both servers?

Some server roles (ie. Forefront TMG) make client communication to a MP exceptionally difficult...
