Microsoft, please bring SteadyState back and update it! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Microsoft, please bring back SteadyState!  Home user administrators still need a way to prevent other users (family members, family friends, inept computer users) from ruining the Windows installation.  I'm tired of spending hours to days repairing these issues!

And please do not suggest using gpedit.msc!  Microsoft in its greater (or lesser?) wisdom decided home users of Windows Vista Home editions and Windows 7 Home editions did not need to administrate their computers and lock down other users from access to certain aspects of the operating system.  I've yet to buy Windows 8 (the way things are going with user administration control over Windows Vista and Windows 7, I Don't believe I'll waste any money on Windows 8).

I'd like to see more support from Microsoft to help out those of us who are the Computer Administrators at home that have to put up with family members and friends that completely ruin a Windows installation.
