How to change taskbar icon size? RRS feed

Answers

  • In Windows 7, isn't there any way to modify a related registry entry?

    From what I know, there is no way.

    The Explorer chages this value:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
    "TaskbarSmallIcons"=dword:00000001

    The value TaskbarSmallIcons is loaded in the Explorer.exe function CTaskBand::_LoadSettings and depending on this value the icon size is changed. There is no way to customize the size.

  • You have activated to use the small icons. This is the only option you have (large or small icons).

  • Unlock the Taskbar and raise the height of it to allow more programs visible at once.

  • Dear Andre,

    I looked at this registry entry and it appears like a toggling bit (0x00000000 or 0x00000001) between the default "large" and "small" size. But in addition to this toggling information, the system should store somewhere the size of taskbar icon for these two states. Where is that and is that modifiable?
