GPO Error 1058

    Question

  • Hello All,

We have two domain controllers one SBS 2011 and the other Server 2008 R2 in different offices, I am attempting to deploy software via GPO on the Server 2008 Box and on the client computer I am getting the Error Event ID: 1058.

When I check effective persmissions on the server the computer and the user account has Read permissions to the GPO within \\domain\sysvol\domain\policies\ but on the client computer I cannot even see the GPO in the \\domain\sysvol\domain\policies\ folder...

I have checked DFS and replication between the DC's is working fine, I have also ran DCDIAG test'S and they come back ok.

    Thanks you for the advice...

    Ian

Then sysvol is probably replicating through FRS -> Burflags D2/D4 restore.

Double check... And verify Sysvol replicates through DFS and not through
    FRS...

  • Hi Ian,

I agree with Martin that  please verify again. It seems that Sysvol replication is broken and probably due to journal wrap.
You could go to check if there are DFSR event logs in event viewer on DC.

Any newer events that indicate successful replication?

  • Nope, That is the the last log in the DFS Replication section of Event Viewer

Admitedly I haven't used DFS for a while, The NameSpaces and Replication sections of DFS Management are empty.

  • Hi,

There is nothing in the folder in the location..... DC=(Domain Name) ,DC=local -> OU=Domain Controllers -> CN= Server Name -> CN=DFSR-LocalSettings

If I then Right Click on CN=DFSR-LocalSettings -> Properties there is no option for msDFSR-Enabled the closest option is msDFSR-Extension....?

    Thanks,

    Ian
