"Project Server Workflow Tasks" vs "Workflow Tasks" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Could anybody explain me what are the differences between the 2 task lists present by default in PWA:

    1. Project Server Workflow Tasks

    &

    2. Workflow Tasks

When you create a project server workflow in SharePoint designer 2013, you may choose to create tasks either in first or second one.

But what's the difference between these 2 lists, why 2 of them?

Cannot sleep well because of it.

  • Hi,

Sorry to hear about your sleeping issues ;)

The Project Server Workflow Task list includes columns for the Project name, ProjectUID and Owner needed for viewing project related info in the task and linking it back to the project.

The other list is a normal workflow task.

For SPD workflows, I would use the Project Server Workflow Task list.

AFAIK in 2013, both of these task lists will roll up to the Work Management 'My Tasks' capability.

  • HI MOSSImprisoned,

Both are default in the PWA, difference between these two are:

"Project Server Workflow Tasks" list is used as default path to store Project server workflow task's approval, and it stored project reference in the list columns.

"Workflow Tasks" list is used to store othere workflow tasks in it.
