Exchange Server MX record email bounce back

    Question

  • I have a server running virtual servers for my Domain, DNS and Exchange Email. Recently some portion of outside senders are receiving bounce back emails that state no MX record found for example@mydomain.org. Now I have had the same server and domain setup and working for over 4 years. Any ideas as to why some outside users would receive this message? I just don't know enough about exchange/email servers to understand it I guess.

    Thank you.

If you need more info I can provide it.

Do you manage the external DNS? If so you need to add the mx record there

If you don't manage the external DNS, contact your ISP or provider.

  • I apologize in advance. How do I find if I am managing the external DNS? I have a server that is running 3 virtual servers for DNS, Domain and Exchange. Sorry again. New to this setup.

  • Ask your IT director.

    Hi,

It seems that you do not manage the DNS records, you need to publish your server to internet with the DNS records and MX records.

    Hope it helps.
