FIM MA - Delta import running endlessly RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello!

I have stumbled across something new and exciting (to me at least)! A while back I had an issue with Delta Import on FIM MA running forever. When I stopped it manually it had imported almost 2 million objects, but there's only 120.000 objects in CS.

It continued to do so on every Delta Import until I ran a full import, which solved the problem. I didn't put much thought into this since I was about to upgrade to MIM shortly.

But yesterday, at the same customer, I ran in to the same issue. This time we've upgraded to MIM 2016 (4.4.1302) and everything has moved to new servers.

Has anyone else come across this issue? How do we avoid it in the future?

  • Hi Kristoffer,

This could be due to the FIMMA / MIMMA gets one import per update. That is, if the same object/user has been updated several times since last Delta Import, you get multiple delta updates for that.

This is also the explanation to why you can have 2 million updates for 120 000 CS Objects.

    That's just how it behaves.

Perhaps you should look into why you have so many different updates for your users/objects in the FIMService/Portal (check your workflow logic?).

  • Thanks for input, Leo.

But unfortunately the massive amount of imports were unchanged objects (I should have been clearer on that).

Since unchanged objects are usually not imported on Delta Import from FIM MA, It's quite puzzling to see that it manages to import more objects than what's present in the source. I wish I could do the same sort of withdrawal from my bank account. ;-)
