An unexpected error occurred while the job was running. (ID 104 Details: Access is denied (0x80070005)) RRS feed

  • Looked through various other threads to see only 1 thread with exactly same error, this thread was 'closed for housekeeping'!

I'm very new to using DPM (as in this week), currently running backup to tape job and one particular folder (E:\Users) has failed with this error, previously failed twice with a different error (ID 2019 : An existing connection was forcibly close by the remote host).

This job takes 2 hours to run each time, any ideas what the above error is?? Have searched the internet for similar cases high and low, no definite resolution or reason for this error code.

  • Hi,

Please start by adding anti-virus exception rules as per the following article:

928840 You receive job status failure messages in Data Protection Manager

The path to DPMRA.EXE will vary based on the version of DPM you are running.  If doing disk to tape (D2T) only backups, then add the exception for DPMRA on the protected server also.  That path will always be %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\DPM\Bin
