Incoming Mail in WSS 3.0 RRS feed

  • Good Day,

    We are trying to activate the incoming mail for WSS 3.0.

    The settings on the Central Admin are as follows:

    Settings Mode = Automatic

    Directory Management Service = No

    E-Mail Display = <ServerName>.<DomainName>.ph

    Safe E-Mail Servers = Accept form all

    We are able to configure with no problems and even set up the Document Library Settings, The problem is the when trying to send a mail to the email address, <LibraryName>.<DisplayAddress>, Nothing happens, no items appear on the library nor any error is diplayed/returned.

    Is there something wrong with the Set-up or is there any way to check if there are any errors encountered as to why the library doesn't receive the mail?

  • How are you delivering mail to the farm? One of the farm servers requires the SMTP service, and you'll need an MX record so your email MTA knows where this SMTP server is. If you use Exchange you can create an SMTP connector. The Configure incoming e-mail (SharePoint Foundation 2010) page describes how to add the SMTP connector (search for Add an SMTP connector in Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 to see how this is done in Exchange 2010). Yes, that page is for SharePoint 2010 but the bit about Exchange would apply for a WSS farm as well.
