deep refiner is not working! RRS feed

  • Question

  • Salam,

    I have following questions

    1)      I’ve created a deep refiner date property and it did not work at all, when I covert it to shallow it works fine.

    2)      When querying the SP search web service using shallow refiner and requesting any page other than the first one the refinement result does not return.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Could you list the settings of your managed property? (Get-FASTSearchMetadataManagedProperty)

Also, which crawled property have you mapped to it?  It should work just fine. Are you using deep refiners with other properties except date which work?

  • Thank you Mikael for your reply,

Actually, none of my custom deep refiners worked, following are the setting of another (text not date) property:

    Name                           : IndividualGender
    Description                  :
    Type                             : Text
    Queryable                    : True
    StemmingEnabled       : False
    RefinementEnabled     : True
    MergeCrawledProperties : False
    SubstringEnabled         : False
    DeleteDisallowed         : False
    MappingDisallowed       : False
    MaxIndexSize               : 1024
    MaxResultSize              : 64
    DecimalPlaces              : 3
    SortableType                : SortableEnabled
    SummaryType                         : Static
    IsMapped                     : False

The managed property is assigned to a text crawled property, the strange thing that it is working just fine when I changed it to shallow refiner!

But with shallow refiners the refinement table did not return when requesting any page other that the first one!!!

The above two behaviors are same on my web site, fast query tool (http://fastforsharepoint.codeplex.com/) or even the default search center.

    did I miss anything?

  • Hi,

The settings for your property looks ok. Did you do a full crawl after you enabled the deep refinement?

  • Thanks Mikael,

After full crawling everything works fine.

But, I did not see in MSDN documentation that I should do full crawling after defining a deep refiner.

    However, Many Thanks.
