Validating new DNS server RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have 2 new DNS servers built and are ready for deployment. How to I check if the DNS servers (by IP Address) are able to resolve DNS records and MX records for domains? Eventually they will be the primary and secondary name servers replacing current name servers

  • I believe I found the answer at: http://www.akadia.com/services/check_dns.html

    At Command prompt  type NSlookup

    Set q=MX

    MyDomain.com IPAddress

Where IP Address is the IP address of the name server I am checking

I am able to get MX records for My Domain listed.

I am looking for validation of this process

  • Hi mmpai,

Nslookup is a highly used tool to check DNS resolution.

If you have validated the new DNS server, then you may mark your reply as answer, if you have other questions, welcome to feed back.

    Best Regards,
