Mobile Device Extension for AD RMS and RAC (Rights Account Certificate) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

According to the document "Leverage the Mobile Device Extension for AD RMS", it says

The client authenticates and acquires PL in one operation.
There is no Rights Account Certificate (RAC).
The RAC identifies a user in the context of a specific computer or device.)
Consequently, there is no machine certificate either.

    in around page 30.

The document has been published on October 2014 (updated: March 2016), but it has not been changed?

    Actually, I have been wondering,
I protected a Word document on Windows PC with IRM with RAC of 1 day.
On the same day, I sent the Word file to my Mac and opened the file with Office 2016 for Mac.

      3 days later...
I still could open the Word file with Office 2016 for Mac without access to AD RMS on-premise server.
On the other hand, I could not open the file with Windows, the proper behavior.

The situation on Mac seems right because "There is no Rights Account Certificate (RAC)."

    Do I have right understanding?

    Thanks in advance,
