booting RRS feed

  • Question

  • Have following questions:
    1. What will happen to booting if I take out pagefile support and hibernation file support? Can I still boot?
    2. If I can boot then will there be any differences with and without pagefile and hibrnation file support? Will there be any user impact?

  • 1.  The system will boot without either a page file or hibernation file.

2a.  The lack of a page file usually increases the HDD read/write activity and generally slows down the computer, but it may not be significantly obvious.

2b.  The lack of a hibernation file prevents the system from being put into the hibernation mode.  It has no impact on overall system performance.
